    Engine Knock/Oil Light

Is anyone else experiencing an engine knock and oil light when starting cold engine?Im using Mobile One synthethic 5W 20.Checked my levels and had to add a half a quart but still hear engine knock and oil light for a 2 or 3 seconds when i first start in the morning or after engine has cooled down.Any advice or suggestions before serious engine damage starts, thanks.

If it's that cold it's time for a block heater. They sell ones that go in where your dip stick is. I have a diesel truck. I plug it in every night to keep the block warm. It's been balls cold and it sounds like your jeep is crying for one too. Park it in the garage if that is an option. That will help too. My jeep goes in my heated barn when it gets this cold. Makes the heater fire up quicker too.

I've heard the same little knocking sound on ours no matter how hot or cold it is outside. I too use Mobil One 5w-20 and also a metal treatment from our company. The metal treatment has made the knocking noise almost go away. I don't have the oil light issue however.

the knocking sound you are hearing may not be coming from the engine...
could be one of those nifty emissions devices trying to save our planet

Mine knocks too....has from the first day I got it. Anytime it's been sitting for hours, it knocks for a few seconds.....never noticed the oil light tho'. It did it even in HOT weather. It's obviously from the oil draining away from the bearings, and too much clearance. I can't tell if it's crank bearings, or the rods.... it's so quick, it's hard to tell for sure. Sounds even worse now that it's cold
