    main differences between 91 and 95 yj's

    what are the main differences between a 95 2.5 l 4 cyl yj and a 91 4.0l 6 cyl yj ?
I know the obvious in the motors but other than that hwat are the big differences if any between the two , ie: coatings , axles , frames etc etc .
working on maybe doing some swapping and was just wondering
    thanks

well, 4cyl has the ax5 transmission assuming its a 5 speed compared to the ax15 on the 5 speed inline 6. rear axle should be the same. I think the driveshaft has a bigger ujoint or something on the 95? not sure bout the transfer case. Don't rely on me with any of this, just some stuff I have read on here and really don't know if the sources were reliable. Just some things to check and search for.

95 2.5L = not so strong ax5 transmission, external slave, galvanized frame, bigger u joints, family style roll bar, 4.10 gears

91 4.0L = stronger ax-15 transmission, internal slave, sport cage (or was that '90?)

You are correct, sport cage was in '91 still.

If you do a swap, you need to swap the entire drivetrain because of motor and spline count sizes.
Also, the center gauge pod and speedo cable will be different between the years. You will most likely want to just swap the gauges as well when you do the swap.
Bigger U joints in the 95.
    That is about it.

    '94 & '95 have external slaves, but I think he was looking for differences specific to a '95 2.5 and a '91 4.0.
