    Oil Pressure High (very high)

When I crank up the 4.0, the oil pressure goes to just below 80. During normal driving (cold weather) it stays up around the high tick mark (under 80) until I stop and goes to about 40. In the afternoons (a bit warmer) it seems to go from medium/low tick to high tick depending on the RPMs.

Is this normal? I know, I know, it's a YJ...
I'm happy it runs as good as it does, but I'm afraid something (main seal) is going to blow out.

its probably the pressure sending unit on the engine. Its a very common problem. If you buy a new sensor switch. I'd buy a chrysler oem, not a parts store version.

If you dont buy OEM, at least get one from Napa. Bosch or a similar named product. Not the el cheapos.

This does sound like a sensor problem. As long as your pressure is moving with operation, your pump is working. And it is in the proper range of the amount of pressure change between idle and load.

I just replaced my oil pump and with the cold weather the pressure is a tick mark below 80 on the gauge at higher rpm's. But it does drop down to below the halfway mark at idle once warmed up. I don't consider the stock gauges accurate I just know if it goes to 0 I got a problem. If it's not pegging out and the pressure fluctuates with rpm I'd say it's doing what it should.

NAPA no longer means quality. Most of their products are now China crap, so beware of what you get at NAPA. I found out the hard way.

I talked to the owner at my local NAPA and he is also disappointed in where NAPA is going.

Im not sure if this is true of all napa stores but the one near me, when ever I go there it seems he offers at least 3 choices on the parts I am buying and its like this Cheap, mid-grade, and Expensive as in he usually has 3 different manufacturers for the same part. For instance a few weeks ago I needed a suspension arm for my other car, he had 3 of the same thing ranging from $8 to $45 , THis napa here I am talking about is a real big store better than the other napa's in the area, Im guessing it is a private owner thing. n any case still a lot better than Auto zone
